****THIS APPLICATION WILL CURRENTLY ONLY WORK WITH THE MOTOROLA DROID/MILESTONE, THE DROID X, THE DROID 2/DROID 2 GLOBAL OR THE DROID PRO! THERE IS A CHANCE IT MAY WORK WITH OTHER PHONES, BUT NO OTHER PHONES ARE SUPPORTED AT THIS TIME!!!****
LED Flashlight is a small application that will turn your Motorola Droid/Milestone into a bright, effective flashlight. It uses the Droid’s ultra-bright camera flash LEDs to illuminate whatever it is you need lit up. Alongside the flashlight, the application also comes with several safeguards to make sure you don’t accidentally drain your battery by leaving your light on. These include a battery monitor and a timer.
Main features:
- Super bright LEDs illuminate much more efficiently than applications that simply crank up the brightness of the screen
- Auto-off timer: Set how long you would like the light to remain on before it will automatically turn itself off
- Battery monitor: If enabled, this feature will watch the level of your battery, and will automatically shut the light off it gets too low
- Notifications: The application will leave a notification in the phones status bar to remind you the light is still on. The notification LED will optionally blink, to remind you in case you set it down and forget it.
- Home screen widget: Toggles the light without having to open the application
Changelog -
- V. 1.6.0-##By popular (and hostile) demand, removed AdMod ads##
-Added option to change widget display. Choose from standard background or no background.
-Fixed longstanding orientation bug. Widget now works after changing orientation.
I also added a donation version of the app (same functionality) to the market for $.99. If you like the app, please consider donating! - V. 1.5.5 – Added non-obtrusive Admob ads to the main application screen. If you primarily use the widget for the flashlight, you will never have to look at these ads. Please support a poor developer!
- V. 1.5.0 – Added in the option to display a notification in the notification bar when using the widget. This new option can be either enabled or disabled from the settings menu. I also did some research into why many users have been reporting that the notification LED is no longer working when the screen is on. After some digging, I found that this is actually a “feature” that was added to all 2.1 versions of Motorola handsets. The notification light will no longer blink while the screen is on, as Motorola claims this saves battery (I have my doubts). So, I apologize, but theres nothing I can do about this. The notification light will still work if the screen is off, however.
- V. 1.4.6 – The auto timeout and battery monitor features are no longer enabled by default. This was causing some serious confusion amongst users wondering why their lights were turning off (and who presumably didn’t know about the settings menu…). I also updated the auto-off text that is displayed with the battery monitor function to point the user towards the settings menu if they think the battery threshold is set too high.
- V. 1.4.5 – Fixed several small bugs that would cause odd behavior when using the battery monitor or the timer features; Optimized code to be more efficient
- V. 1.4.1 – Added in Battery Monitor, which will automatically shut off the LEDs in the event the battery drops too low during use
- V. 1.3.1 – Made widget more interactive: image now toggles depending on whether light is on or not; Minor bug fixes
- V. 1.2.1 – User can set timeout duration for timer feature; Minor bug fixes
- V. 1.1.5 – Initial release
